In light of all of the studying for exams and wrapping up clinical rotations, the month of April brought about many activities for NCSSU.
Our community event this month consisted of two activities that took place on April 14th. The “new juniors” graciously volunteered to take part at this year’s Seawolf Decision Day. At this event, the members of NCSSU were able to speak with incoming freshman about the nursing program and answer any questions that they had. It was a great opportunity for us to share about our amazing nursing program at Sonoma State.
The second activity that took place on April 14th was an event called Expanding Your Horizons. At this event, girls from local junior-high and middle schools who were interested in math or science came to SSU for a day of fun and learning. A few nursing students volunteered at the “nursing station” of this event where Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune, and Jeopardy were played. The junior-high students answered questions related to health and nursing, and a short Question & Answer section followed. This was a fun and exciting way to educate the local youth about the nursing profession.
Our social event for the month was a hike at Spring Lake in Santa Rosa. Despite having to study for a big test, we chose to put down our books to enjoy the beautiful Saturday. We had fun walking around the lake, chatting, and breaking a sweat at the exercise stations.

Good luck to all as you are finishing up finals, papers, projects, or graduating!
